Elder Abuse, Real Property and Financial Fraud Update

Join us for the first meeting Orion NYC Meeting of the year with First Deputy Sheriff Maureen Kokeas. Sheriff Kokeas will address Real Property and Financial Fraud Investigations. The work of the NYC Sheriff’s Office in this area has overlapped with many elder abuse investigations as the victims of real property theft are most often elderly and vulnerable. The presentation will include highlights of several investigations and what citizens should look out for to avoid becoming a victim.

Maureen Kokeas is the First Deputy Sheriff in the NYC Sheriffs Office. Maureen joined the agency in 1987 as a Fraud Investigator and in 2003 became the Director of Tax Enforcement. In 2014 she was appointed First Deputy Sheriff.
